My Loss
By: Peri Sandusky

I was walking towards the cave when a snow storm swooped up behind me and took me in with it's strong power. I couldn't see anything for hours until all the sudden something appeared in the distance. It was the cave! I struggled to get inside and then finally made it.
	“Mama! Papa!” I say
“Mama! Papa!” I yell again. Nobody answers.
Where is everybody? By now the storm has stopped.
I decide to make some paintings, so I go out to gather some berries and flowers. As I start to walk outside I trip over something by the door. I look back to see what it was that I tripped on, and see something that looks like people.
I get a closer look. Oh, my, gosh! It's my parents!
They must've come looking for me when I was in the storm! I whisper into their ears.
“Mama?” I whisper into her ears. “Papa?”
They don't move. I start to cry. My parents are gone and I can't do anything about it! I cry and cry for hours. I can't live without parents!
I've never had to live without parents! I've never not had anyone to tuck me in at night. Or to fix me meals! What am I going to do? How am I going to live my life?
